TRADITION VS ORIGINALITY
Tradition defines us as individuals and our society. I believe traditions have the power to teach us right from wrong, to connect us with the past and that we as a whole are bigger than the sum of the parts.
But that also means that tradition is the opposite of originality! Each one of us is different (fortunately!) and as such we like to make things our way. So how should be balance tradition and originality? Where do we draw the line?
There's obviously no single answer, only each person's view on the subject for a specific moment in time. To me, this is an ever-changing line because the more weddings I photograph, the more I value originality - and that takes me to Bruna & Gustavo's wedding!
I first realised it would be an out-of-the-box wedding when I first met them for the engagement photo-shoot in the streets of Lisbon. They had different ideas from what I'm used to seeing, plus a great chemistry with one another.
Let's get to the wedding photos, then!

Chasing the light
Photography is light, not just the quantity but also the quality. And by the time the ceremony had finished, the quality of the light on the venue had decreased as the sun had set behind the hill. So there really was no other option than to go out for a walk in search for the last light of the day.
The place we got was... not really that great, but we had sun!!
With this shoot I got to an interesting conclusion: it's better to have good light in a bad place than the other way around.
Dinner time
Here's one point where the tradition always wins, and I'm glad it does: every single Portuguese has a deep love with food (I wouldn't say obsession out of politeness). So dinner time is one of the most important parts of the day.
And finally, cutting the cake and let the party begin!
